/CONCEPT/
The environment in which you are within and the elements surrounding you, shift your perception and experience. this series of activate: Backstage will showcase the production elements & utilization of light, sound, and sets in theater in order to expose the audience to the technical components that play a critical role in altering the ambiance and their mood. this representation will stimulate thought and knowledge of how the utilization and manipulation of light, sound, and scenic elements can create a more impactful, theatrical experience.
/INSTALLATIONS/
Shapeshifting
An interactive installation in which people can change scenic elements, i.e. backdrop, props, as they wish and will have their photo taken via an iPad by a select photobooth vendor, which will then be sent immediately to the guest via email.

An interactive set in collaboration with an improv troupe in which the audience will be able to select certain elements to create the ambiance, i.e. lighting, sound, and scene. The actors will then act out the scene accordingly in order to showcase how such production elements create and impact the theatrical experience.
There will be a set change, “performance”, on (3) separate occassions.
PAINTED SCENES
DEPICTING CLASSIC/POPULAR SCENES FROM PLAYS ALONG A WALL, THE AUDIENCE WILL BE ABLE TO MANIPULATE/ANIMATE THE SCENES BY “PAINTING” OVER THEM. SEE BELOW FOR A VARIATION OF THIS INSTALLATION DONE BY THE SAME ARTIST.
the meaning of light
This installation will further shed light on the meaning of light, it’s frequency, and how it represents who you are by taking a photograph of your aura within a natural environment, which will be a floral, light installation.

/STAGE DESIGN/
The SOD covered stage will have (2) 1ft x 1ft x 6ft columns made of clear (front & back sides of column) and fluorescent (top and left/right sides) plexiglass with vines and other floral hanging from the top, which flow down the column internally.
There will be an RGBUV uplight within each column that will be programmed to chase through select colors, such as indigo, blue, magenta, and amber. The columns will sit within a base fit to exact size of the column in order to conceal the uplight inside and for structural support, then covered with a wooden or marble pattern.
The dj booth will be an opaque white booth with additional uplights. see last year’s stage design by SONIDOS below on the right.
/PRODUCTION/
SONIDOS will be self-sustaining with any staging, lighting, video, and audio needs for the event.

Andrea Garces | Lead Conceptor, Designer, & Producer
With a background in digital marketing, operations, and IT within the ad agency realm, Andrea found it critical on her life path to instill stimulating experiences and connectivity with the self and other’s, while evoking thought and inspiration by utilizing natural elements, sound and light.
Recognizing this obsessive drive by her passion for music, creativity, technology, and a peaceful state of being, Andrea chose to pursue her path towards design, fabrication, event production, and promotion in order to expose the creative liberation of other creators, to inspire, and to heal through a multitude of art forms; all while utilizing the ancestral knowledge of the inducing altered states of consciousness of the with varying frequencies of sound and light.
Artana Sherifi | Designer & Producer
Usually working in film, Artana Sherifi is a production designer and set decorator. Inspired by classical art periods, she incorporates highly stylized themes in her work that focus on saturating a narrative.
Zac Hall | Conceptor & Producer
Inspired by minimalism and motion, Zac Hall is a florist, designer, photographer, and installation artist who uses light and space to showcase the depth and abundance of our natural world.
Preferred media include, flowers, paint, wood, light, mirrors, plants and projection mapping.
Grant Penrod | LIGHTING DESIGNER & Technician
Grant Penrod is a lighting designer who uses unique lighting techniques to create visually cinematic scenes, as well as naturalistic scenes referencing classical art. His ability to shift mood and atmosphere in a setting is what allows viewers to be transported in the world he creates.
